Lawsuit Challenges Biopro Claims

Npros.com | 4/27/2010

A federal lawsuit has been placed against a California company known as Biopro, challenging the claim that its Cell Chip and the Universal Chip are capable of blocking electromagnetic waves that radiate from cell phones.

The lawsuit claims that Biopro is selling the chips nationwide, and that they actually do nothing, because the low level of electromagnetic waves from cell phones pose no proven danger to people. Both chips have sold for several years by Biopro Technology and Gia Wellness, based in Carlsbad, CA.

Biopro advertises the small plastic-covered chips, which are offered on Biopro's web sites for about $40 each; as being capable of generating a shield that protects users from "electro pollution" emitted by vacuum cleaners, cell phones, generators, televisions, computers and other similar devices.

The lawsuit suggests the repayment of potentially millions of dollars to the buyers of the products. "In our view, there is absolutely no scientific basis for the claims they make, and are trying to make money off the fear that people have about electromagnetic radiation with a product that doesn't do anything." said attorney Brad A. Catlin with the Price firm.

A company, which coincidentally manufacturers "radiation shields" has issued a statement claiming that mobile phones could kill far more people than smoking or asbestos. The company, BioPro Technology is citing a a study by a neurosurgeon and cancer writer, Dr. Vini Khurana.

"It is anticipated that this danger has far broader public health ramifications than asbestos and smoking," says Professor Khurana. He believes that the three billion people in the world that now use the phones worldwide are at risk and that their death and illness from cell phone use could exceed the harm from smoking.

Noting that malignant brain tumors represent "a life-ending diagnosis," he adds: "We are currently experiencing a reactively unchecked and dangerous situation." He fears that "unless the industry and governments take immediate and decisive steps," the incidence of malignant brain tumors and associated death rate will be observed to rise globally within a decade from now, by which time it may be far too late to intervene medically."
