Some say it takes tragedy to bring people together. According to Michelle McVaney, scrapbooking editor of Bella Online magazine, that might have been the case with the recent popularity of scrapbooking.

Women say they love the craft, because it gives them a chance to spend time with other women who want to preserve family memories.

And, according to McVaney, the return to family values struck Americans after 9/11.
