Youngevity has identified Colombia as one of the primary direct selling markets in Latin America. Youngevity announced that this expansion effort will be spearheaded by Country Manager, Angela Sierra, under the supervision of Susana Azócar, Director of Sales and Operations for Latin America.

Located in Bogotá, Youngevity’s Colombian operation occupies 4,520 square feet of office space. Youngevity Expands International Team

Youngevity also announced today that to lead the expansion into Asia it has appointed Ben Ho as the Vice President for this region.

Ben Ho is a seasoned executive with nearly twenty years of direct selling industry experience in Asia and a proven track record of growth and sales in the Asia-Pacific markets. Ben Ho has extensive experience working with various direct selling companies in establishing sales and distribution in countries across the region. Formerly, Mr. Ho was a Managing Director of Melaleuca in Southeast Asia and managed the entire set up and sales process in the company’s expansion throughout Asia.

SAN DIEGO, Jun 24, 2013 -- Youngevity Essential Life Sciences, a wholly owned subsidiary of Youngevity International Inc., announced that is has filed official Comments in response to the FDA's Proposed Rule, "Infant Formula: The Addition of Minimum and Maximum Levels of Selenium to Infant Formula and Related Labeling Requirements."

The Proposed Rule would require inclusion of selenium in infant formula, which has now been confirmed by the FDA to be "an essential trace element for humans" adding that selenium deficiencies "may be of greatest concern in infants and children" especially to those that are entirely fed through formula.

In support of the Proposed Rule, Youngevity and its distributors filed official Comments reiterating selenium's integral role as part of a healthy diet. Youngevity's Comment also relied on an evaluation by noted researcher, chemist, and scholar Dr. G.N. Schrauzer, Ph.D. who also serves on Youngevity's Scientific Advisory Board. Citing Dr. Schrauzer's expert opinion, Youngevity recommended that the FDA require the use of an organic form of selenium, selenomethionine, which provides greater health benefits to humans than does the mineral's inorganic form, sodium selenate.

Youngevity has long been a strong advocate of providing the public with important, truthful information about such health benefits and this is only the latest measure taken in support of health derived from supplementation. Youngevity has already successfully petitioned the FDA to allow such claims concerning the consumption of certain omega-3 fatty acids to reduce the risk of coronary heart disease and of the consumption of selenium to reduce the risk of bladder cancer in women as well as prostate and thyroid cancers.

Youngevity CEO, Steve Wallach, stated, "My father, and Youngevity founder, Dr. Joel Wallach, has been at the forefront of Selenium research for nearly 40 years and the Proposed Rule would only amplify the importance of mineral supplementation, especially to children who rely on infant formula as their only nutrient source."

The FDA will continue to accept comments on its Proposed Rule until July 1, 2013.

AL International Changing Corporate Name to Youngevity International Inc

The Company also announced that Bill Thompson has joined its Board of Directors. Mr. Thompson, age 52, currently serves as the Chief Financial Officer of Broadcast Company of the Americas, which operates three radio stations in San Diego, California. He served as Corporate Controller for the Company from 2011 to 2013 and for Breach Security, a developer of web application firewalls, from 2007 to 2010. Prior to 2007, Mr. Thompson served as Divisional Controller for Mediaspan Group and Chief Financial Officer of Triathlon Broadcasting Company.

Bill Thompson will replace John Rochon who resigned from AL International on June 7, 2013. Mr. Rochon's resignation did not involve any disagreement with the Company.

Prestigious Scientific Award Recognizes Discovery of Selenium-Cystic Fibrosis Link

Wallach, BS, DVM, ND is the 2011 recipient of the Klaus Schwarz Commemorative Medal. This prestigious award, sponsored by the International Association of Bioinorganic Scientists, Inc. (IABS), recognizes the work of pioneers in the field of trace element research and is named after Klaus Schwarz (1914-1978), a leading trace element researcher best known for his discovery of the essentiality of selenium.

The IABS cited Wallach's groundbreaking discovery of an animal model of cystic fibrosis, a disease that affects 70,000 people worldwide. In 1978, as a researcher at the Emory University Yerkes National Primate Center in Atlanta, Georgia, Wallach observed pancreatic lesions that were identical to those observed in human patients in the offspring of inadequately-fed rhesus monkeys. This suggested that cystic fibrosis—at the time believed to be a genetic disorder of humans only—could also be the result of selenium deficiency, and that some forms of cystic fibrosis might be preventable.

Selenium is an essential trace mineral that serves many functions in human physiology, including the synthesis of antioxidants (natural substances that neutralize free radical damage), and thyroid and immune function. It cannot be made by the human body but instead must be obtained through diet. Sources of selenium include nuts, cereals, meat, mushrooms, fish, eggs, and dietary supplements.

Youngevity Acquires Financial Destination Inc

(FDI), a nationwide direct seller of financial, telecommunications, and health and wellness-related services.

Elements of this partnering include having FDI's President and CEO become the President of Youngevity.
